Thieves go on luxury shopping spree after stealing elderly women’s bank card

Police want to trace these men after a 97-year-old woman had her card stolen last month. Can you help?

Thieves overheard the elderly lady struggling with a cashpoint outside Tesco on Stratford Road, Solihull, on 26 November and offered to help.

But instead, they stole her bank card and went on a shopping spree in Coventry, spending thousands on watches and other luxury items.

Officers have released images of two men seen making a transaction with the stolen bank card. They may have vital information about what happened – do you recognise them?

Investigating Officer Lucinda Wilson said: “The woman is absolutely distraught that this has happened to her, especially so close to Christmas.

“The people responsible exploited an elderly lady’s vulnerability to steal from her. They may try the same ploy with someone else, so we want to trace them as soon as possible.”
