Air Ambulance called after elderly women suffers serious leg injury

Published on

An elderly woman has suffered a serious leg injury following a collision with a Land Rover this afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Alcester Road South in Kings Heath at 2.55pm and sent an ambulance, a paramedic area support officer, a rapid response paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a patient who was partly trapped underneath the vehicle.

The woman, who is thought to be in her 90s, was conscious and had to be freed with the help of the fire service.

Ambulance staff assessed her and administered emergency treatment for a serious left leg injury.

The doctor from the air ambulance, which had landed in a nearby cricket club, administered pain relief before travelling with the patient on a land ambulance in order to continue treatment en-route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.”

“Nobody else was injured in the collision.”

The road was closed whilst police carried out and investigation and reopened shortly after 4:30pm.
