Collision investigators are currently investigating a fatal collision on Stratford Road in Shirley which occurred at around 5pm today (2/12).
It is believed a pedestrian was crossing the road, when he was struck by a silver VW Passat.
A 70-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he sadly died shortly afterwards.
The driver stopped at the scene to help with enquiries.
Sergeant Alan Wood from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Stratford Road is a busy stretch of road, I would urge anyone who saw the collision to get in touch.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this time.”
Stratford Road at the junction of Church Road is likely to remain closed for most of the evening.
