Police investigating an assault on a pensioner in Birmingham have arrested a 43-year-old man.
The victim, aged in his 70s, was knocked to the ground after getting off a bus in Brighton Road, Balsall Heath, last Tuesday afternoon (16 October). He suffered cuts to his nose and elbows.
Officers this morning arrested a man from Longbridge on suspicion of assault and he is currently in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Jim Church, from force CID, said: “We have received an overwhelming response from the public which has helped us to make this arrest.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would urge anyone with information which may assist us to come forward.”
