West Midlands Police are searching for those behind a drive by shooting in Balsall Heath this evening (15th August).
Windows on a house in Oakfield Road were broken when a handgun was fired from a dark coloured saloon car at around 7.20pm. Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident.
Local officers including a firearms unit locked down the area to make sure people were safe and to search for the culprits.
Witnesses say the car sped away from the scene down Sailsbury Road towards Edgbaston cricket ground.
Forensic teams are now at the property and officers in the area have been alerted to be on the lookout for the car.
A similar incident took place at around the same time on Saturday 5th August. That time another house in the road was targeted. Again, no one was injured and police are working to understand if the two incidents are connected.
Officers are now appealing to members of the public to help end crimes like this once and for all, and bring peace to the area.
Anyone with information can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you know who is responsible and why the two homes were targeted. Remember, you don’t have to give your details and the information you provide could result in a reward of £1,000.
