Elderly woman seriously injured after being hit by a lorry in Kings Heath

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was hit by a lorry in Kings Heath earlier this morning.

Emergency services were called to Kings Heath High Street at around 10:50am to reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services were at the scene.

An elderly woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the lorry is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “I really need to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision who hasn’t already spoken to us.”
