A cyclist is seriously ill in hospital after being hit by a car.
The 19-year-old man was hit at around 4.30pm on Sunday 7 January on Moorside Road, Yardley Wood near to the junction of The Centreway.
The car that struck the man is believed to have been a Ford Fiesta which had failed to stop for traffic cops, who were following the vehicle, minutes before the collision.
A Fiesta believed to be involved in the collision was discovered in Hornby Grove, Yardley Wood at around 7.30pm.
No arrests have yet been made and the cyclist remains in hospital in a serious condition. His family have been informed.
Chief Inspector Gareth Morris from West Midlands Police said: “While our focus is on finding out who was driving the car, our thoughts are understandably with the young man who has been seriously injured and his family and friends who are understandably very upset.
As the car which is thought to have hit the cyclist had failed to stop for officers moments before the collision, the matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (formerly the IPCC).
