The 23-year-old was attacked on Alcester Road South at around 4.40pm on Thursday (19/09).

His friends and family are being supported by specially trained officers.

It is believed the victim was assaulted after a row broke out with occupants of a passing car.

One man, Jamie Taylor aged 21 of Tidworth Croft in Highters Heath appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with wounding.

It is believed two people were involved in the assault, police enquiries are ongoing.

Det Insp Stuart Mobberley, from Homicide department, said: “This is now a murder enquiry, and our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones at this tragic time.

“We have charged one person in connection with what happened and that charge will be reviewed in due course.

“This is still very much an active investigation, and I’d appeal to anyone who was involved in what happened to hand themselves in before we arrest them.

“If anyone saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police, we need to hear from them as soon as possible.”
