A motorcyclist remains in a critical condition this afternoon after a collision with a van yesterday evening.
Police were called to Yardley Wood Road at the junction with Prince of Wales Lane, Yardley Wood at around 7.30pm on yesterday evening (26th August) to a report of a collision between a motorbike and a van.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the collision and re-opened at around 2am today this morning.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, was treated at the scene for serious injuries and was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The family of the man are being liaised with by specialist officers as we continue to establish the circumstances that led to the collision.
“We believe that there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have witnessed the collision. If you have not already been spoken to by an officer then please come forward.”
The 24-year-old driver of the van was spoken to by officers at the scene.
