Police have launched an investigation after a member of the public’s car was overturned during a collision between two cars in Brandwood.
Emergency services were called to Woodthorpe Road shortly after 11:10pm on Tuesday (19/05/15) to reports of a collision between an Audi RS5 and a Nissan Qashqai.
Upon arrival emergency crews found one of the cars had over turned and a man in his 30’s had freed himself from his vehicle, while the other occupants of the Audi were seen running away from the scene.
An ambulance crew and a community paramedic from West Midlands Ambulance Service treated the man for minor injuries and discharged him on scene.
Police officers with support from the police helicopter searched the area for the men seen running from the Audi but nobody was found.
One of the men who was seen running from the scene was seen dumping a box in a nearby garden, which was found to contain a large quantity of jewellery.
A search of the Audi also recovered more jewellery and subsequent inquiries identified this had been stolen from a break-in at a jeweller’s on Sycamore Road in Bournville shortly before the collision.
Inquiries are ongoing and officers are looking to see if any CCTV from both scenes may provide any further leads.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
