Local Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after three bag thefts in the Kings Heath area in two days.
The first offence took place in Longmore Street, Balsall Heath at around 12.20pm on Tuesday (September 25). The female victim was approached from behind by two men; one was on a bicycle. They snatched the bag from her shoulder, causing her to fall to the ground and suffer a minor injury to her shoulder.
During the morning of Wednesday, September 26, two further robberies took place. In Alder Road, Moseley at around 9.50am an 82 year-old woman was pushed to the ground by a man who stole her handbag. The offender, who made off in the direction of Birchwood Crescent, is described as six feet tall, of a thin build and wearing a black hooded top.
The same morning in Springfield Road, Kings Heath at around 11.30am a 47-year-old lady also had her bag snatched from around her shoulder. The offender then fled in the passenger seat of a waiting vehicle which drove off in the direction of Woodfield Road. The vehicle is described as silver or white car similar to a Ford Fiesta. The offender is described as a black man, aged between 27-30 years-old, wearing a dark grey t-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Inspector Darren Haynes, said: “The victims are obviously very shaken by what has happened to them. At this stage we believe these offences are linked and we’re determined to catch those responsible as quickly as possible.
“We are continuing to check CCTV footage from the local area, but we are really keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened and can help us with our enquiries.”
