Now found: Sighting of missing 12-year-old Shane Pinder as searches continue

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who shared the appeal, as of 9 pm Sunday evening we’ve got word Shane is home.

Searches are continuing today for missing 12-year-old Shane Pinder, who has been missing since Friday (16 March).

Shane left Wheelers Lane Technology College, Kings Heath, in the afternoon but failed to return home.

He was spotted at around 11.30am today (18 March) in the Hawkesley/Kings Norton area and was still wearing his school uniform.

Police believe he may be using his bus pass to travel on buses around the city, and officers are speaking to drivers to alert them to his disappearance.

Detective Inspector Scott Shaw, who is leading the investigation, said: “It’s really important that Shane knows he’s not in any trouble, and that we just want to find him safe and well.

“Shane – your mum and dad are really worried and all they want is for you to be back with them at home as soon as possible.

“We’ve got specialist teams, neighbourhood and response officers as well as the Locate missing persons unit and Force CID all working to achieve that.”

Shane is 5ft, with light brown short hair, fair complexion, and freckles on his cheeks.

Shane, who lives in Ladywood, was wearing black school uniform with a white shirt and grey tie. He was wearing blue Nike Air Max trainers with white soles, and a dark blue parka coat with fur around the collar.

He had a Nike backpack carrying his black McKenzie school shoes.
