Voting for the annual Pride of Kings Heath Awards 2015 is now open to the public. The awards, formerly known as the Business Excellence Awards, offer the community the opportunity to nominate and vote for the local businesses they feel deserves recognition across a range of categories.
Hosted by the Kings Heath BID (Business Improvement District), the ceremony will take place at the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath High St, Tuesday May 12th 2015 6pm-8pm, and will announce and present the winner of each category with a certificate of excellence.
Kate Smart, Town Centre Manager, said, “The awards are designed to celebrate our local businesses by recognizing their efforts and achievements throughout the year, whether it’s a chain or independents. We have such a great range of shops, venues and restaurants here in Kings Heath that the awards always bring out a real sense of community pride, and the public love to get involved with voting!”
This year, seven of the awards will be voted for by the people of Kings Heath, through paper ballot at the Kings Heath Library or online, with all businesses being in with a chance of winning a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. The categories up for public vote are; Most Enjoyable Night Out; Most Enjoyable Chain; Most Enjoyable Service; Most Enjoyable Window; Most Enjoyable Dish; Top Indie Retailer and Top Vegetarian Choice. The public have until May 8th to vote for their favourites in these categories.
The remaining four categories will be judged by impartial local representatives, after a period of public nominations via email, closing April 27th 8pm. Judging The High Street Hero Award is Inspector Rachel Crump, joined by the Moseley and Kings Heath police neighbourhood team, whilst The Community Champion Award will be chosen by our local councilors. Elizabeth Barker, ‘i-SE Social Enterprise Experts,’ will judge the Business Champion Award, and finally Tom French, ‘Community On Board,’ will decide on the winner of The Online Savvy Award. The businesses with the most votes in these categories will also be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze, as well as all nominees receiving a ‘Crown Rating.”
