A quick thinking member of the public resulted in the arrest of three males in Selly Oak early Monday morning.
West Midlands Police were called to a lettings agents on Bristol Road near to the junction of Grange Road after a member of the public saw three hooded men and heard a grinding noise.
The noise was the sound of an angle grinder being used to saw through metal window bars, but thanks to the swift response of officers, plus a dog handler, the three men were arrested near the scene.
A 33-year-old local man was arrested behind the wheel of a Ford KA that response cops had blocked in, while another 33-year-old, from Balsall Heath, was found hobbling in the university sports ground having jumped off an 8ft wall.
A third suspect, aged 40 and of no fixed address, was tracked down by police dog Titan (pictured) hiding in a garden a few hundred feet away.
Crowbars and angle grinders were recovered.
All three were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary; they have been bailed till next month with conditions including an overnight curfew.
