Kings Heath: Two arrested after suspected gas explosion

Two men have been arrested in connection with a suspected gas explosion at Dixy Chicken on Alcester Road South, Kings Heath last night.

The property was sealed off while emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed between York Road and Drayton Road. The shop was closed at the time and no-one was injured.

The men aged 26 and 28 self-presented at hospital early this morning with minor burn injuries, and were subsequently arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson.

The franchise store had been up for sale for some time as the owner was moving to London. It’s not known whether the store sold or not before the explosion.

A police investigation is on-going and anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log 2657 31/3/18.
