A Violent partner has admitted killing his ex-girlfriend and her seven-month-old baby – strangling them in their beds – just two days after the pair had separated.
Wesley Williams, aged 29, killed Yvonne Walsh and her son Harrison on 2 June in her Chells Grove home in Billesley.
University graduate Yvonne (25) and Williams had been in a relationship for several months – but it ended abruptly on 31 May, the last day Yvonne was seen alive, and their bodies found by police two days later.
Williams admitted the double killing but detectives and pathologists were not able to determine who was killed first. Both bodies were found after police forced entry to the property: Yvonne in her bed and Harrison in his cot with the curtains drawn. Post mortems revealed the mother and son had died as a result of pressure being applied to their necks.
Williams was initially sent to a secure facility on his arrest to be assessed by mental health professionals; weeks later he was deemed fit for interview and subsequently charged.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarbjit Johal, from the homicide investigation team, said: “Wesley Williams has pleaded guilty to the shocking and senseless murders of his partner Yvonne and her baby Harrison who both had their whole lives ahead of them.
“Yvonne’s family described her as a warm and loving person who was a dedicated professional and absolutely devoted to her two young children.
“My thoughts are with their family, friends and the community that they lived in who are all still struggling to come to terms with their deaths.”
Williams will be sentenced next week.
