Burst water main leaves 140,000 properties with low or no water pressure

Updated 8:10am

Water supplies have now been restored to South Birmingham after two burst water mains caused no or low water pressure for residents in B13, B14, B15, B29, B30 postcodes.

Because of the extent of the damage Bristol Road in Bournbrook opposite University of Birmingham is down to one lane into the city.

Church Road which leads into Calthorpe Road in Edgbaston is also CLOSED due to a second burst water main which caused flooding on Edgbaston Park Road. Severn Trent Water has advised that Church Road could be until next Monday (5th Nov).

As of 6:30am Edgbaston Park Road remain closed between Somerset Road and Arthur Road and is likely to be closed for a number of hours.

Bus services are diverted because of the closures. We’ve contacted National Express West Midlands for the diversion information and will update this page in due course.

Due to a burst water main on the Bristol Road opposite the University of Birmingham areas of South Birmingham maybe experiencing low water pressure or no water at all.

Severn Trent Water has engineers on site working to fix the problem, at the moment there is no time frame for a fix.
