Kings Norton skip hire site on the market for £2.5m

Published on

The former Mercian Skip Hire site in Kings Norton has been put on the market, just months after the long-standing business unexpectedly shut its doors.

The company, based on Ebury Road off Lifford Lane, closed in June 2025 and issued a statement on social media: “This decision has been made by the owners to voluntarily close the business in preparation for the sale of the site. Please note: This is not due to any financial issues or operational difficulties.”

In August, much of the firm’s fleet – including lorries, loaders and excavators – was sold at auction.

Now the 2.35-acre site, marketed at offers in the region of £2.5m, is being advertised as a freehold with a range of features:

  • Large open storage space with high-grade concrete standing
  • Secure gated access from Tunnel Lane
  • Two weighbridges (40 and 50 tonne)
  • Open sheds with scope for refurbishment
  • Waste transfer licence
  • Solar panels
  • Existing B1 and B2 use, with potential for residential planning

The property includes car parking, two portable cabin offices, and a recycling plant on site.

The sale marks the end of an era for a business that had served the local community for decades, though its future could now take a very different direction depending on redevelopment plans.
