Kings Heath Great Pancake Race under threat following heavy snow fall.Calling all businesses and residents of Kings Heath who own a snow shovel!

For the first time in its history, the Kings Heath Great Pancake Race will be subject to a risk assessment of The Village Square, to assess whether it is fit to run.

Kate Smart, Town Centre Manager has been forced to consider public health as snow continues to cause problems around the square. She said “It is imperative that we take the necessary steps to ensure we deliver what has been promised to the people of Kings Heath. I remain confident that the show will go ahead, and we shall get the green light following the assessment.

“We did contact local weather presenter Shefali Oza inviting her to come along, however it seems she obviously saw what was coming and opted out.”

The planned race this coming (Shrove) Tuesday will be a test of community spirit, which will undoubtedly determine whether it goes ahead. Smart has urged businesses and residents alike to get their snow shovels out and point them in the direction of The Village Square.

The question still remains – will we have a Kings Heath ultimate pancake tosser by the end of Tuesday evening?

Further updates on the run and the conditions will be posted on the website – www.enjoykingsheath.com or find them on Facebook at Enjoy Kings Heath.
