Annual Street Festival returns to Kings Keath for end-of-summer bonanza

The annual Kings Heath Street Festival is set to return for another end-of-summer bonanza on Sunday 13th September 2015.

Organised by the Kings Heath BID (Business Improvement District), the free-entry festival will bring together residents, businesses and members of the community in an all-day celebration of what makes Kings Heath unique.

This year’s festival, which is now in its second year, will be extended to encompass both York Road and Heathfield Road, after the resounding success and huge number of attendees at the 2014 event. Temperatures soared, as over 2000 people turned out on the day to join the merriment.

With an array of stalls from local traders, the Street Festival will showcase the rich and diverse offering of retailers, eateries and businesses available in Kings Heath on a day-to-day basis, with many opening on the Sunday especially for the event.

Amongst the day’s entertainment, festival-goers can look forward to a traditional fairground rides, including a ferris wheel, entertainment for all ages, an outdoor vintage lounge, arts and crafts, and fresh locally made food.

The BID is also teaming up with local music veterans the Hare and Hounds and The Sun at the Station, bringing performances to two live stages from some of the best local talent throughout the day. Some of the artists lined up on the Hare and Hounds stage include Boat to Row, Atlantic Players and 360, whilst The Sun at the Station stage will see sets from Midnight Bonfires, Tom Walker Trio and The Frenzies, plus many more!

Kate Smart, BID Manager, said: “The first ever Kings Heath Street Festival was a huge success, so of course we had to bring it back even bigger and better this year! There was a fantastic atmosphere last year, and we’re keen to stress that everyone is welcome to this community event, so please do invite your friends and family to come along!”

The Kings Heath BID has appealed for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to get involved with the festival, and assist in the smooth running of the day’s proceedings. Applicants should express their interest by emailing [email protected]

The Kings Heath Street Festival will take place on York Road and Heathfield Road, Kings Heath, from 11am-8pm, Sunday 13th September 2015.
